Repeated reading is a research-based instructional strategy. Here’s an engaging way to implement it! Fluency Friends is a resource created to provide an engaging rereading routine for students who would benefit from additional reading practice. It is designed to be led by older students or volunteers, who assist younger students in the routine. While it can be implemented as often as desired, we used this rereading routine three days a week for 6 weeks. Adding the wh, sh, and th digraph cards will help your students locate the words on the wall by the true initial sound and spelling. Heart words such as “of” are placed under the trick or heart card.
