Honey Bee Facts
Honey bees swarm for one of two reasons: 1️⃣ The hive has become too crowded so they split into two groups, with one group remaining in the existing hive. 2️⃣ All the bees, including the queen, are forced to abandon their existing hive completely due to lack of food or water, mite or disease infestation, weather changes, disturbance by humans or animals, poor ventilation, or problems with the queen.
Worker bees are literal powerhouses. In the hive, they make up the all-female troupe of non-reproductive bees. True to their name, worker bees do the hard work of the hive, including feeding the queen, drones, and larvae, collecting pollen and nectar, and making wax. A hive couldn’t exist without worker bees! #honeybee #honeybees #savethebees
How do bees grow into the mature adult bee you see flying from flower to flower? 🌷 - Bees start out as an egg. The fertilized eggs turn into female bees and the unfertilized into males. - As larvae, the bees mainly eat and molt. - Once they turn into pupae and don't feed until they emerge as adult bees. The entire process takes just 16-24 days for these tiny but mighty bees to enter our world! 🐝 Source: Beehive Hero #honeybee #bees
