Monas or National Monument is the 132-meter tower in the centre of Merdeka Square, Central Jakarta. Symbolizing the fight for Indonesia, gold-plated flame on top means burning fighting spirit. Designed based on masculinity and femininity "lingga" and "yoni" principle, the monument can also be interpreted as "alu" and "lesung", traditional rice pestle. Inside there is a museum.
