St Kessog's Cross, Luss Glebe

Saint Kessog's Cross The Celtic cross in the glebe at Luss, was dedicated in 2007. The upper part of the cross contains Christian symbols including the dove of peace, the grain of wheat, the fish symbol of the early Church, the chalice and the candle of hope. Also included is the Luss Lily, an iris which is only to be found on this glebe. Below the lily are other faith symbols, not all of which are religious; they spell out the word ‘co-exist’ (from a nearby information board). …

Shandon burnt out

Burnt out house in Shandon, near to Shandon House (St Andrews School), Helensburgh, Scotland. Probably not the best venue for a pool party ;-) 8th March 2015: went for a look at the building today, only to find that the entire property & grounds is in the process of being redeveloped - at least I assume that as only the demarcation walls and the driveway remain. 26th October 2015: For sale as development opportunity.

Shandon House

Shandon House aka St Andrews School, by the Gare Loch. Built circa 1800, then rebuilt in 1849 for William Jamieson. Now owned by the MoD, the building has remained unused and receives only minimal maintenance to keep it safe. Sadly this has not stopped break-ins, vandalism, and theft, as well as the expected deterioration of the exterior and subsequently the interior. The options for the building's future are under review by the MoD, although demolition is unlikely as it is Grade B…
