Icelandic Poppy With Wannabes
I wanted the flower to look luminous, and I wanted to show the hairs on the stems and buds, so I went for backlighting here. It looks like the middle bud is going to be red or orange instead of yellow like the others. I placed a single, bare YN560-II on a light stand behind and below the plant at 1 o'clock for the backlighting, and placed a YN560 in a 24 inch softbox in front of the plant for fill light at 7 o'clock. Vuylstekeara Cambria 'Plush' - A Champion Celebrates It's 80th Anniversary
Vuylstekeara Cambria was one of the first Oncidiinae intergenerics which was mass propagated, and still it's name is used to describe the group of Oncidium alliance hybrids. It has been produced in increasing numbers up to 1990, and is still available today. Crossed by the renowned orchid nursery Charlesworth and Co and registered in 1931, it was made available to the broader orchid communitiy around 1970 through Keith Andrew from UK with the help of Vacherot & Lecoufle's laboratories.
Two sweet pea flowers with some late evening light from the left and reflected light from the right. All of the writing on my plant labels was bleached away by sunshine, so I'm not certain of this cultivar. It's either 'Valerie Harrod' or 'Evening Glow'. Regardless of their ID, they are simply luminescent and sport a fine fragrance.
