This would be a very fun activity the first week of school! Teacher says a statement (ex. Switch sides if you like hot dogs more than pizza.) and the students either stay or move. The kids could also talk about why they did/didn't move. Fun!!! #backtoschool

Pass the Plate Sight Words...music stops...go around and say sight word on your plate (could also do math facts)

Redirecting

I promise I'm still around, just trying to keep my head afloat during these last few weeks of school. Anyone else feel a little like this, just hanging on for dear life until summer vacation. One of my favorite days of our school year is our "Picnic Day." I prearrange this with our cafeteria staff and they make sack lunches for my students for our picnic. All day, we try and do "picnic" themed activities. One of the student's favorites is called "Pass the Plate." I write sight words on paper…

FREEBIE for Back to School!

With July rapidly coming to a close, many teachers are preparing for "Back to School"! In honor of this busy time, I'm sharing something I made and used during morning meetings last year. Morning meeting is part of our daily schedule because it's such an effective way to build community. Playing cooperative games during this time helps students to get to know one another and have fun in a noncompetitive way. Plus, it's tons of fun! To help myself be better organized and teach my students…

Guess the Emotion Taboo-Inspired Game for Kids

Use this fun game to talk about different emotions with elementary aged kids. In this Taboo-Inspired Guess the Emotion game, participants will develop emotional awareness in regards to themselves and others.

I can use my wonderful collection of begining sound realia to create this project activity.

Phonemic Fun!

Here is a fun and easy phonemic game that you can play with your kinders at any time of the year! You will need a bag of some sort - it can be a gift bag, or a bag like this: You could decorate it all cute with some puffy paint and ribbons. Since I'm on vacation, I don't have access to the supplies! I'll try to make one up when I get home! You also need some small manipulatives or picture cards. I really love these teaching tubs from Lakeshore Learning. They come in handy for so many things…

Good Morning!!

Hello Everyone! Just a quick post today, then off to some science training!! One of my most popular post is the one I did on my morning warm ups. I thought I'd rework and create a little pack. I am not a fan of just a pencil/paper activity every day for the kids to do as soon as they get to school, but I do want them reading and/or writing and/or talking! :) Every morning while I'm taking lunch count, attendance, organizing notes from parents, etc., the kids follow our Morning Warm up…
