Yuan Dynasty. Woman's jacket with Manchijiao pattern of lotus pond and other vignettes (front). Silk embroidery on purple silk gauze. Vignettes cover the front & back of the jacket in an offset pattern. A poem by Ke Jiusi (1290–1343) names the pattern manchijiao ("pond of beauty"), which he notes is a common design on imperial garments during the Tianli reign. 58 x 107 cm. SECRETS OF SILK ROAD - Silk Road 2nd-4th century.  Excavated from Tomb 3 of Cemetary #1, Niya.  This rob is made from blue and yellow checkered trim.  It is lined in white silk.  It has a cloure on the left, narrow sleeves, aflared hem, and slits on either side.  The squares are evenly shaped and the colors elegant. SECRETS OF SILK ROAD - Silk Road 2nd-4th century. Excavated from Tomb 3 of Cemetary #1, Niya. This rob is made from blue and yellow checkered trim. It is lined in white silk. It has a cloure on the left, narrow sleeves, aflared hem, and slits on either side. The squares are evenly shaped and the colors elegant.
Song Dynasty. Men's cross collar brocade robe with vulture and confronting goat design. Sleeve span is 197 cm and height is 134 cm. The robe has a left closure, narrow sleeves, a fitted waist, and a flared hem. The background of this brocade is tan with lake blue and yellow gold designs of spirit vultures (condors), pairs of goats, and coiling grasses. Excavated from Alar Cemetery, Ruoqiang, (Charqilik) County. Xinjang Uygur Autonomous Region. Dressing, Clothes, Chinese Style

Yuan Dynasty. Brimmed hat. Fiber, wood, gold, and semiprecious stones. The tops of such hats are ornamented, and a string of hardstone beads serves as a decorative chin band, similar to that of the brimrned hat in the tapestry-woven portrait of Tugh Temiir. Height is 9.2 cm. Diameter of headband is 18c m. Outer diamter is 35 cm. Excavated from the Wang Shixian family tombs, Zhangxian, Gansu Province. Gansu Provincial Museum.
