Dining table in kitchen
Let's Bring Back the Eat in Kitchen. LOVE this article. In Aspen, we stayed in a condo with only a farmhouse table separating the kitchen and the living room and I loved the feel of it. So casual and laid back. Everyone ends up in the kitchen anyway! Plus, less rooms and smaller houses=more environmental.
Somewhere in the evolution of the American home, the kitchen and dining room became separate things. We started out cooking over a hearth, right in the middle of the home, and wound up with the kitchen as a sort of utility, tucked away in the back of the house. But cooking and eating are natural partners. Why not put them back together?
