a person is making a quilt on a table
1M views · 7.1K reactions | I got a little help from my oldest one today! She had to come home early from school (she bit her tongue during playtime 😩) so she spent the day with me. She’s only 5 but I think she did a great job! Nice to have an assistant to film for me. I’m not gonna lie, making the “quilt sandwich” is one of my least favourite parts of quilt making but I have found the pool noodle method the easiest. Obviously this is a smaller quilt - everything gets infinitely more difficult when working on much larger scales. Can’t wait to show you this beauty once she’s all finished. 📸loomstudio_london 💖👏 #quilter #patchworkquilt #remnantquilt #basting #poolnoodlebasting #sewingtutorial | Quilt Patterns PDF | Quilt Patterns PDF · Original audio

I’ve been thinking for awhile how I might make it easier with a quilt as you go method. This technique worked great I’m so happy to say! - grab yourself a small clear ruler and a Frixion heat erase pen and some sharp scissors. - I used a base of warm and bright quilt batting (but insulbright would also be amazing) cut to about 13” x 13”. - I used a 3” hexagon template (It’s in my Amazon storefront in my linktree) - go as scrappy as you want. I love to fussy cut so I used a bee for my center and then cut 2” strips of fabric that coordinated. See below for fabrics I used. - mark 1/4” from each end as you sew on the strips, with the frixion pen. This makes trimming way easier. - build around the hexagon for desired size. I did two rows around the center hexagon. Fabrics used were Bee in my Bonnet by @rileyblakedesigns, Midnight in the Garden by @modafabrics and the Bee collection from @hobbylobby #simplyeilene #scrappy #quiltasyougo #hexagon #quilted #hotpad #fabriccoasters #cottonfabric #sewingtutorial #sewinglove #beginnersewing | Eilene Johnson | Lights Follow · Live Your Beautiful Life
