I think the couple system was entirely wrong. I think the basket case and the criminal should be together, and the princess and the brain should be together. I think the director picked the people who were completely opposite of each other and put them together, but I know that they won't last as long as they could have unless the couples were arranged differently.

John Hughes is one of the best Directors ever in my opinion. He literally made Samantha from Sixteen Candles for Molly Ringwald, and he did something truly amazing with Ferris Bueller's day off and how he used Ferris to progress Cameron's story.
