Jiu-Jitsu always had a strong sense of community, almost family like. Granted that the same sentiment is felt in other martial arts, but the sense of belonging to a team is incredibly strong and has been for decades. In Brazil the rivalry between teams was very intense in the 1980’s and 1990’s, and it wasn’t uncommon for members of opposite teams to feel genuine animosity towards each other, with the eventual street fight occurring.

Jiu Jitsu is great for anarobic excercise. I love the grappling aspect, though what we know about it today is the competitive version. My father doesn't like it because he is a master rank in the traditional combat style. Still fun to learn though. Best grappling form in my opinion.
