The Kalash live on the fringes of northern Pakistan, the only ones in the region not following Islam. Their genetic make-up is so pure and distinct, that they are unlike other human races, thanks to their evolving DNA and rare alleles.  Few look as  Caucasian as this girl, but their gene pool creates great variation.

The culture of the Kalash people is unique and differs completely from the various contemporary Islamic ethnic groups surrounding them in modern northwestern Indian subcontinent. They are polytheists and nature plays a highly significant and spiritual role in their daily life. As part of their religious tradition, sacrifices are offered and festivals held to give thanks for the abundant resources of their three valleys. They are also known for their unique strain of DNA.

The Kalasha live in the North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan in the higher valleys of the southern Hindukush. They are a pagan people still practising their ancient customs and the women and girls still wear traditional dress.
