LILLIAN GISH (1893-1993) American stage, screen, and television actress, whose career spanned 75 years. She was immensely popular in silent films. Her final film, "The Whales of August", was made in 1987 when Gish was 93. Gish always listed the year of her birth as 1896. It wasn't until after her death that the true year of her birth (1893) was revealed.
