His inventive trumpet playing, scat singing, duos with so many of the famous singers through his years have left us with a rich arsenal of great 'Satchmo' songs. His charismatic stage presence was like no other - he was a unique gift to American music. He passed away in 1971 and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame.
