Humanist Versus Christian Values

I am a fellow humanist. There are a lot of people I know personally that are really angry with me being one. That's okay. I still care for them, anyway.

Secular Humanism, most closely describes how i feel about the world.

I am not a secular humanist, but this is the best definition I have found for this world view.

10 atheist /secular commandments. #humanist #atheist.....truth! This needs to be on the wall somewhere in my house!!

10 atheist /secular commandments ~ I agree with these "commandments" so much more.

Atheism, Religion, God is Imaginary. I am not religious. I am a humanist because human beings are more important than dogma and traditions.

I am a humanist because human beings are more important than dogma and traditions. >>> Those people for whom dogma and tradition are important may have them, of course. Please recognize that not all other humans accept them.

(2012-11) Secularism ~ “secular” simply means that something doesn’t have anything to do with religion (...) when we talk about “secularism” as a social movement, we’re talking about working to keep faith-based ideas, superstition and religious ideology out of public life. (...) secularists want public policy to be based on facts, science and reason.

Secularism as a social movement. to keep faith-based ideas, superstition and religious ideology out of public life. public policy to be based on facts, science and reason.

Atheism. Not my perfect sentiment as I don't know the sayings of Buddha, nor do I know how much i "believe" in humanity. But I *DO* believe in compassion, empathy, and love!

What I believe: sums it up for me very nicely. I'm grateful to live in Sweden, where compassion, empathy and, above all, morality trumps religion.

This hits the nail right on the head

The fact that you can have an absolute like "true morality" requires that there be a standard of morality. How is there a standard if there is no God? If a supreme being is not in the picture, there can be no morality at all.

Not at all. It is asking why, if I am going to be dead in a week, why go to work today? If atheists are right, the end of everything is the end of everything; at that time nothing we have done will make a difference

Not a slave to an imaginary master anymore. Real freedom is owning ones own life and mind!
