Oldest known Austrian-Hungarian picture postcard, sent from Vienna to Zombor (Sombor) and back to Vienna; date sent: May, 19th 1871. The card was sent out by the Serb Petar Manojlović to his cousin. Postcard is written in Serbian language with Cyrillic script.

Vuk Stefanović Karadžić/ Вук Стефановић Караџић was a Serbian philologist, linguist and reformer of the Serbian language. His collections of songs, fairy tales, and riddles of folklore are legendary.  He was well known abroad;working with, friendly and admired by Jacob Grimm, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and historian Leopold von Ranke. Vuk was the primary source for Ranke's Serbische Revoluzion, written in 1829.
