The couple turned once again to Ernesto Buch to build an extension to the Kent, Connecticut, country home Mr. de la Renta had owned since the seventies. The addition, a Schinkel-inspired building set apart from the main house, is the ultimate “bed-sit”—in Mrs. de la Renta’s words—comprised of living room, library, and bedroom. Corinthian pilasters framing the room lend elegance, while the sisal rug protects the space from becoming too precious.
