I used these 'traffic light targets' for children to set and attain their own targets. Children would choose a target (ie not to reverse 5s, start sentence with a capital letter, not suck their thumb in class). They would write this on a small sticky label and place it on the red circle. As they progress in reaching their goal, it moves to amber. When they are consistent it is placed on green and a new target is set. A certificate is sent home to let carers know a target has been reached.
