Dismantling of the Tsar Nicholas II statue - Moscow (1918) The dismantling of Tsarist symbols and monuments became a priority of the Bolsheviks upon their accent to power. This was done to remove all traces of the old regime and to strip Russia of its “old values” which were deemed as a barrier to the expansion of communism.
