Asking god for forgiveness

We need to be kind, compassionate, and forgiving. Paul wrote: “Become kind to one another, tenderly compassionate, freely forgiving one another just as God also by Christ freely forgave you.” (Eph. 4:32) Even if we are deeply hurt by some wrong done to us, let us forgive, as God does. (Luke 11:4) Suppose a fellow believer has said something negative about us. In an effort to straighten matters out, we approach him. He expresses true sorrow and asks for forgiveness.

God forgives each and every one of our sins as long as we ask sincerely, so why is it so hard to forgive others. We know that what they do makes us mad, but we need to forgive. Forgiving isn't saying that we want to be their best friend it's just saying that we r going to keep them from destroying our hearts. It may not stop them, but we know we need to forgive them as many times as possible. God forgives us as many times as He needs to, so we need to do the same. Don't hold grudges…

I asked God for a scripture on forgiveness & this one really hit home. God forgives us for our sins, so why can't we forgive others once they do something negative towards us? I'm going to be honest, it's probably one of the hardest thing, but you can't be close to God with hate in your heart. FORGIVE. It will set YOU free.
