ECONOMY: The Chinese currency system existed in both Ancient and Imperial China. The Silver Dollar was established as the official currency of the country in 1914, but the introduction of the Yuan Renminbi in 1955 replaced the old Yuan at a rate of 1 new Yuan every 10,000 old Yuan. China currently uses the Yuan Renminbi currency system, whose currency code is CNY. The currency symbols include ¥ (1 yuan) and 角 (1 Jiao) while 6 CNY would equal about 1 USD.
