When water evaporates, it becomes water vapor. This is the process by which molecules at the surface of liquid get enough energy to transform into a gaseous state. Water is always evaporating from the surface of bodies of water like oceans and lakes. Also, from unexpected places like from soil and your skin. Plants also draw in water from the soil through their own roots.

This would work good to explain the verb "boil" in some sort of language learning program I guess. The original source of this image was a water propaganda pamphlet produced by the America EPA youth outreach program (thus clearly public domain) and although the original was black and white, I painstakingly added colour to just make it a little more cliparty.
