'Herne the Hunter Herne the Hunter is a mysterious, ghostly figure in English folklore. He wears large deer antlers upon his head, rides a horse, torments cattle, and rattles chains. He is believed to haunt Windsor Forest and Great Park in the English county of Berkshire, near London.
