I made my own address book by using an index card holder! Instead of erasing information, I just make a new index card, punch a hole, and replace it! It's nice because you can always add an index card, and it's easy to store--just hang it on a hook!

Easy peasy simple index cards. Flipping through these little treasures reminds me what our days were like, how time lingered. No intrusive, all-too-handy devices ensnared us. And nothing intimidating about index cards here. No fancy hardbound journals. No special pens. Just images, phrases, moods…

My version of the yearly calander. Use index cards cut in half and write the date on them. Write something I did or something cute the kids said, etc. Use the same card every year. In 5 years it will be nice to be able to look back and see what I thought was worth writing down. I used card stock to make a box to hold them :)

In this post I share how I set up my commonplace book with index cards and envelopes. This is not my last and only attempt to keep a commonplace book. I want to go through my old study notes and transfer them to this system so I can get rid of a lot of papers. I also want to hone in on the craft of writing a memoir using this method.
