This is Max Vandenburg. Max Vandenburg is the jew who hides in the Hubermanns' basement. He is a very sweet and kind man. He gets very sick in the book and lives. Eventually he has to leave because he was a danger to the Hubermann family. He ends up going to a concentration camp. Max Vandenburg lives and remains best friends with Liesel.

Max Vandenburg is a Jew that lives in the basement of the Hubermanns'. The Hubermanns allow him to live there because, Max's father saved Hans Hubermann's life during World War I. Although the Hubermanns are putting themselves in danger, due to Max being a Jew, it is a risk they are willing to take because of the heroic actions of Max's father. One time officials scour the neighborhood, looking for hidden Jews. The officials go to the Hubermanns' house, but Max is not found by the officials.

Max Vandenburg is a Jew who was hidden by the Hubrmanns. He was hidden because his father saved Hans during WWI.

Max is a Jew that Hans is trying to hide. He was a Jewish first fighter when he was younger. Max and Liesel become very close over the time that they spend together.
