Impressions of Nature on Instagram: "🥳✨🌿HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🥳✨🌿At the beginning of 2023 I started to make a monoprinted nature journal… Celebrating what ever I found in abundance around me, winter walks surprised that I could still find a few blackberry leaves. The whole year has been an amazing experience and really helped me to get out into the world and get to know the local natural history. I this year I wondered if you would like to join me in celebrating your own local plants by creating a monoprint Nature journal for 2024. The impressions of nature page followers are spread across the world so I wondered if we could start using a hashtag so that we can keep up with each others wonderful and unique creations. I thought we could just use #impressionsofnature There is a list of all

an abstract painting with flowers in blue and white

In my studio last month I explored printing with some plants from my garden - a perennial silver bush (unable to be identified) and the flower heads from my Italian Parsley. Impressions of Nature on Instagram: "All you need is a little practice, curiosity and enthusiasm… I have been an educator for most of my life working with all ages and abilities, during this time I have noticed that the only way to improve at anything is to practice. We all need a little initial guidance and few pointers and the right equipment, materials etc. but beyond that its just practice… For botanical monoprinting you don’t need to be skilled or even creative you just need…

someone is making an art project with paper

Diana Garrison on Instagram: "Day 36: Another frosty set of colors for this printing session. I think everything worked nicely together, but if I were doing it again, I’d somehow cut out the dark lines of paint on the collage paper. 1 gel print with 2 random colors + 1 random paper collaged between the layers. Follow #100randomprints to see them all. 🧡 The color gods have a free color resource for you in my profile! Tag me if you invite them into your studio for random color selections…

Impressions of Nature on Instagram: "❄🌿✨Continuing with the Festive theme I had to start printing with GOLD! ❄🌿✨ Ferns lend themselves beautifully to this time of year and also monoprinting I am always delighted with the results and this one was not exception. I will be printing lots more festive themed plants this month as it is such a great activity for all ages to help us to slow down a little and appreciate this time of year, when the weather is a bit wild and the light levels are a…

black and white photograph of dried plants in four squares

Monoprinting is a form of printmaking that allows you to create unique, freeform printed images every time. Unlike the more common relief printing, which uses a block stamp to reproduce the same image over and over again, monoprinting allows the freedom to create each image anew.
