Princesses, Pies, & Preschool Pizzazz: Toddler Squares

Today was all about shape Squares . We started a day by listening to the picture story book As I read the book , paused on each page, children enjoyed looking for Squares in the pictures. We had lots of fun during circle time learning about Squares. We also worked on fine motor skills and practicing arranging the squares onto the template. Children were also proud of the pattern they created and talked about what color they used for making pattern .

The second week of our shape theme was filled with lots of fun square activities. On day one we made the window hanging shown above. I put masking tape on the sticky side of contact paper then the girls painted it with tempera paint. (they painted the sticky side). I love the way it turned out. I have a pic of both the circle collage from last week and the squares from this week. Our dining room is starting to look beautiful. :) Our shape song this week was sung to the Blue Danube Waltz…

A craft we did in the one-year-old room. I drew a tree in sharpie and cut out red, orange, and yellow squares. The kids placed the squares on the glue that I put on top of the tree. They loved it!

Today we cut out the different sizes of squares and kids glued it on the appropriate boxes and build a robot 🤖
