three rhinos are shown in black and white

I know my usual thing is environments, but I feel studying animal and human anatomy is important to helping out my environment designing skills. Here are two studies where I took a photo of a tiger and a rhino, broke down its construction into shapes and used that same construction to draw the animal from a completely different angle. This was all drawn in photoshop.

an image of rhinos in the wild with their skeleton diagrams on it's back

We don't domesticate rhinos, but their body type, like the oxen, is built for great weight. Rhinos have comparatively thick leg bones, stout and low to the ground. Burden beasts bend more at the joints than horses and deer - bent structures diffuse weight better (this is why our femurs bow in to the knee instead of going down straight). The back of the skull is flat and the spines of the vertibrae extended for powerful neck muscles. That head is heavy!
