Today I share how to cook ogbono soup which is one of my all time favorite Nigerian soups. So keep watching if you want to see this. For the protein, I have some goat meat and some cow skin. I'm going to go ahead now and cook it with some onions. Some pepper, this is Cameroon pepper, it adds a beautiful flavor to this soup, some seasoning cubes, salt and then stir it around, cover so it can start cooking. So 15 minutes later, the meat have been steaming in its own juice for 15 minutes now. So now I'm going to give it a quick stir, add some water and then cover so you can continue cooking. While that is cooking, go ahead and prep the rest of the ingredients, pound or ground the crayfish, the pepper and the locust beans. Next ground your bono with a dry meal and put it in a bowl. Add some palm oil and then mix it until everything is well combined. Once the meat is 80% cooked, I'm going to go ahead and add some water. We're making soup so we need stock. The amount of water you add depends on the amount of soup you're making. Next add the washed fish, the grounded pepper, locust beans and crayfish. I rinse that out of course because we don't waste food here. Stir that in and then allow it to come to a boil. I also added some salt to this. Next I'm going to melt the obono and to do that you can either place it on top of the pot just like this or inside the pot but if you do this make sure your bowl is heat resistant or better still just do it in your microwave so once it melts take it off and then now I'm going to give the soup once there and then taste to make sure the seasoning or salt is perfect this was fine I didn't need to adjust so now I'm going to go ahead and pour in the melted obono once I pour in the melted obono I don't to stir it. I leave it so it can you know integrate into the soup on its own. After the first 10 minutes, I go in and give it a very good stir. Then I'm going to continue cooking for another 10 minutes. The longer you cook your ogbono, the better it taste. So cook it for a solid 15 to 20 minutes and after that you're going to perceive a beautiful fragrant ogbono soup. Go ahead and add some vegetables, stir that up and take it off the heat immediately. You guys our soup is ready. Served with soft hot herba which is my favorite combo. I hope you enjoyed watching. Send me pictures on Instagram if you try this out. See you in my next one.
