Indonesia dating: 	  	19th Century   description: 	  	Undulated, pamor (visible at the tip) blade, slightly chiselled at the base, almost entirely decorated with the chiselled effigy of a gold-inlaid dragon; large, roundish mendak of gilt metal, decorated with filigree spirals and small diamond-cut stones (one missing); large, chiselled and pierced horn grip, depicting high-relieved floral motifs and stylized animals. Without scabbard.

Kris (dagger) of King William I, circa 1835. This kris was presented to King William I by the Sultan of Madura, Cakra Adinigrat VIII, in 1835. In an accompanying letter, the sultan expressed a thousand thanks for his appointment as a Commander in the Order of the Dutch Lion. His gift to the king was a kris ‘made at my kraton [= palace]’.

kris (dagger) studded with no fewer than 115 diamonds, which was a gift from the Sultan of Madura to King William I of the Netherlands.
