In 1754, the woman Maria Mueces and her deaf-mute daughter Rosa were caught in a terrible storm in a river valley in Colombia. Desperate for help, they sought refuge between some large stones, when suddenly Rosa (who, as a mute, didn’t talk) cried out, “The Mestiza is calling me!” Her mother looked up and saw that her daughter was pointing toward a beautiful image on a rock of the Blessed Virgin Mary holding the baby Jesus, illuminated by flashes of lightening.

Group of friends Joe Kim, Joanna Hernandez, and Mike Del Ponte developed an amazing way for the world to gather in praying the rosary amid the coronavirus pandemic. The group created a “Map of Hope,” encouraging faith and prayer rather than fear. The map invites prayer warriors to post prayer intentions and commit to praying the rosary for those intentions. In response to the fear that tracking the coronavirus naturally creates, the map instead tracks each person’s place of prayer.

Father José Guadalupe Aguilera Murillo of San Isidro Labrador Catholic Church in Querétaro, Mexico broadcasted Mass via livestream this past Sunday amid the coronavirus pandemic. However, something unexpected occurred during the stream. Since the Catholic Church celebrated the feast of Divine Mercy on Sunday, Fr. Murillo placed the image in the video’s background. Praise God! What an amazing honor! Judson College announced that EWTN foundress Mother Mary Angelica will be inducted into the Alabama Women’s Hall of Fame next month. She joins more than 90 other women, including Helen Adams Keller, Rosa Parks, and To Kill a Mockingbird author Harper Lee. Mother Angelica is the second consecrated religious to receive this honor. She follows Sr. Chrysostom Moynahan of the Daughters of Charity.
