Bristol Omnibus 3003 is standing in Chippenham bus station. New in 1957 as an LS5G with Eastern Coach Works bodywork, it was originally numbered 2912. In 1971 it was extensively modernised, converted to LS6G spec, and renumbered 3003. In this form it ran until 1977.

The history of Newcastle under Lyme in North Staffordshire goes back quite some time The town recieved its first royal charter in 1173 Weymann bodied 'semi-lowbridge' Atlantean (fleet number 800 . . . see what they did) was painted into this scheme which looked quite dignified but carried the message nicely. This then is a PMT official view of 800 EVT (from the 1959 delivery) proudly posed for the camera in 1973. 800 was one of only two PMT PDR1s to carry reflective number plates. North Staffordshire independent Procter's generally had a very well kept fleet, not just coach wise, but also the service bus side of things too. The company had been a key player on Service 16 . . . Hanley to Leek via Cheddleton since the dawn of time. In the early to mid '60s the firm had sampled the Daimler Fleetline demonstrator 4559 VC which had obviously appealed to them as they went on to buy two new ones but with Alexander bodies, in 1965 and 1968. By 1980 Bristol Omnibus Co's remaining FLFs were disappearing fast and had mostly retreated to the "city" services in Bristol itself. On Friday 22nd August I was on stake-out along Locking Road, Weston-super-Mare, served by the seaside town's final all-day FLF route, the 105. I was expecting the FLFs to vanish completely almost by the week but, to everyone's surprise, they went on for another four years in Bristol. A handsome pair of Mansfield District FLFs, looking especially smart for the absence of advertising, seen in the parking area of Mansfield's bus station on Saturday 5th May 1979. The bus on the right went to Wilson's of Carnwath and was later exported to the Netherlands, where it suffered the ignominy of having its roof lowered to comply with local regulations. THL900 entering Leeds bus station on 14.02.72. The front wheels would move at odd angles when cornering. There were no seats upstairs at the front because of Guy's suspension system at the front. Ordered by Sutherland of Peterhead, Alexander C35F bodied AEC Regal 111 model 6821A DMS125-30 arrived in May 1951 as Alexander A99-104. Initially used as coaches, and allocated to Grangemouth depot , the batch was transferred to the northern region in 1957 to Dundee (Westfield Avenue depot) to replace Cheetahs. A103 moved on to Arbroath Depot in 1959 to replace P360, where it was photographed in 1962. Withdrawn in 1971, it was sold and scrapped. The 1949 Scottish Omnibuses order for 40 AEC Regal 111 model 6821A GSF684-723 (B365-404) consisted of 20 (B365-84) with half-cab Burlingham bodies with 35 dual-purpose seats, and 20 with Alexander 35 dual-purpose seats, with B385-99 later reseated to 30 coach seats, and used on long distance services. This batch of 15 were re-bodied with new Burlingham Seagull FC35F bodies in 1954, and some of the Alexander bodies were subsequently fitted to a variety of chassis. Aberfeldy Motor Coaches Plaxton C33F bodied AEC Regal 111 model 6821A DES332 was acquired from McKerracher, and operated until 8/66 when it was sold to the dealer Cowley. Converted for OMO operation in 1965, I presume by McLennan, it was photographed at Aberfeldy in April 1966 having returned on service from Pitlochry. GNR of Ireland purchased 30 AEC Regal 111 chassis in 1948, 30' long and 8' wide, fleet numbers 403-432. The first to enter service in June were 427-32 with timber framed Park Royal 35 seat coaches allocated to Drogheda depot for hires and tours. Becoming CIE A432 when GNR was taken over in January 1959, ZH3931 was photographed parked up at Drogheda Depot off licence in September 1964. - John Sinclair Gnr, Sinclair, Depot

Photographed inside their depot (in Aberfeldy) in July 1965 is Trans-United C33F bodied AEC Regal 111 model 9621E GDK901, new to Yelloway of Rochdale in 1949. Acquired by McLennan in 9/59 it passed almost immediately to AMC, but must presumably have returned for OMO conversion. Outbased at Killin, it ran with AMC until 1969. New to City of Oxford in 1950, and already converted for OMO operation in 1958, they were acquired in 1963 and OJO728 was photographed in May 1965 in Mealmarket Street in Aberdeen having arrived from Stuartfield. MacBrayne's last half-cab buses were three Roe DP35F bodied AEC Regal 111 6821A model KGG708-10 (12/27/30) new in 1953 for services based on Fort William. KGG708 and 709 were rebodied with Duple FC35F bodies in 1961 to modernise the fleet which operated over its extensive empire. However, KGG710 for some reason retained its original body, and was photographed at Kinlochleven Depot in May 1966, two months after the Connel Bridge was opened up to allow a through bus service to Oban.
