I happened to read the book during our MIRP time and LOVED it! I don't know in which quarter this will happen, but I'm gathering/creating resources already because I'm THAT excited. One of the characters is not just two faced, he is twelve faced! Therefore, he is known as the Dodecahedron. I stumbled onto the following…

Favorite Read Alouds #9 -- The Phantom Tollbooth

To find out why I read aloud to students, start here. My fourth grade teacher read it to me and I read it to my students. The humor isn't dated. My class discusses idioms and other literary devices. June 2014: I just added a free printable graphic organizer for students to collect and learn new vocabulary. In case you have missed this book, Milo finds a toy tollbooth in his room and it transports him to another land. He meets interesting creatures and must right a wrong, learning much about…

Phantom Tollbooth Wallet

I just finished another great book: The Phantom Tollbooth. Now, I know that most of you probably read this book back in third grade, but I must have been too busy with Goosebumps. Its a whimsical story about a little boy named Milo who travels to a mysterious land via the mysterious tollbooth that appeared in his living room. The detailed map inside the front cover is a crucial tool for following Milo's adventure through the vast Sea of Knowledge, the looming Mountains of Ignorance and all…
