That is one big menu. Doesn't matter, this couple is not interested in ordering at the moment. The painting illustrated the story "Some Day I'll Love You" in Collier's around 1950.

Not clear exactly what has put the guy in a trance. It could be the picture that is in the back of the box and facing him (on the back of the canvas is the name of Paul Cezanne). His date is doing her best to gently bring him back to reality. Maybe he paid big bucks and has bought the wrong painting. Other speculations are welcome!

I see the golf game has been interrupted by her arrival. The guy with the club certainly is making his claim, but the guy with the glasses is not deterred. She doesn't seem to know what to make of all the attention.

That book he's reading is titled Time-Space, so you wonder what she sees in him. Whatever it is, he might as well put that book down and pay attention to her. Otherwise she is going to continue her distraction. Then pretty soon he won't know the difference between time and space. This painting is with the story "Love On Channel 3" in Cosmopolitan in January 1952 .
