Math Standard 6.G.1 *Find the area of right triangles, other triangles, special quadrilaterals, and polygons. I would do this when we begin our unit on area/perimeter! I would have the students then take a roll of painters tape and tape off (the perimeter) of at least 3 rectangular objects they could find around the classroom. I would have them then take a ruler and find both the area perimeter of the objects they found.
