a person sitting at a table with some fruit on it and the words harvesting basila diy guide
Style Estate Gardens on Instagram: "Harvesting Basil: A DIY Guide 🌿 Fresh basil can elevate your home-cooked meals to gourmet status, and it’s even better when you’ve grown and harvested it yourself! Follow these easy steps to properly harvest basil, ensuring your plant continues to flourish. You Will Need: • A basil plant • Clean scissors or garden shears Instructions: 1. Identify the Harvesting Spot: Look for a section where there are two sets of leaves (nodes) on either side of the stem. 2. Cut Above the Nodes: Using your scissors, make a clean cut right above the set of nodes. This encourages the plant to grow two new stems from the cut point. 3. Regular Pruning: For a bushier and healthier plant, regularly prune the basil by cutting the stems above the bottom set of leaves.

several potted plants sit on a window sill
Sarah Gerrard-Jones on Instagram: "I guarantee you success with Orchids if you follow these tips 👇 1. Light - put Phalaenopsis Orchids on a windowsill (not south-facing) 2. Soak the pot for 10-15 minutes when the roots turn from green to silver-coloured 3. Add fertiliser once a month 4. Remove the sticks for a more natural look 5. If the flower stem is still green cut it beneath the lowest flower and above a node. It may bloom again from the same stem 6. If the stem is totally brown cut it back to just above the base 7. A drop in temperature during Winter can help encourage flowering #orchid #orchidlover #orchidflower #orchidsofinstagram #houseplants"
