Wood Mouse Atop Stump
A wood mouse retrieves a hazelnut from a thin tree stump. The wood mice usually carry away the nuts several metres and hide them in different places. I have observed mice place hazelnuts on the ground, somewhat hidden by the undergrowth and plant litter, and cover them with nearby leaves.
