Reliquary Pendant. This pendant reliquary, was worn around the neck of its owner, is an excellent example of the continuing tradition of Byzantine art. The reliquary consists of a hinged outer case with a smaller reliquary inside. In the case of the pendant, the inscription names the original owner, Arsenios, metropolitan of Serres in northeastern Greece. Serres was a center of art production in the sixteenth century, so it may was made there.

Memento mori ring, made in Flanders, Belgium, or France, 1526-1575. The book opens to reveal an inscription and a figure with a hourglass and skull. The cover has snakes and toads around the central skull, figures representing the Fall and Expulsion form the shoulders of the ring, and the back of the loop features clasped hands.
