Bored Jar: if a kid complains of boredom they have to pick a slip & do the activity, good or bad. Might be going for ice cream or cleaning their room. With a chore to reward ratio. I think I could use this at work except it would be the "Bad kid jar" Little People, Little Ones, Bored Jar, Bored Kids, Activities For Kids, Crafts For Kids, Easy Crafts, Do It Yourself Home, My New Room

Bored Jars - For All You Mommas!

HAPPY FAT TUESDAY EVERYONE!! I am so sorry readers, it has been a while. School has been a bit INSANE, but I am now finally on a break and can get back to blogging away! So here is my latest little project... Whoa does this bring me back to my childhood! All growing up I remember having this "terribly-great" thing called a bored jar. It was an old canning jar my mom had filled with little scraps of paper. On each scrap there was something to do, according to my brother and I some were…

ABC Scoops

Thanks to Ronald Reagon, July is National Ice Cream Month and we're celebrating all week long with ice cream crafts and activities. Today I whipped up this simple matching game for A as we continue to work on her ABC's. I google-imaged "cone" and "ice cream cone scoop" and found this great cone graphic as well as a template for a scoop. I printed off a bunch of the cones and cut them out, writing a lower case letter on each one. For the scoops, I used Photoshop to fill in each one with a fun…

What a good idea- Clutter Jail. If the kids leave it out, it goes in the clutter jail and they have to draw a card out of the community chest and complete the task to get their stuff back. Great way to teach responsibility. Little People, Little Ones, Just In Case, Just For You, Mini, Raising Kids, My Guy, Getting Organized, My Children

Tool Me Tuesday: Jail The Kiddos Clutter - Susan Merrill

I was at a DotMOM Conference and heard Kathy Peel explain this very clever concept – The Clutter Jail. Kathy, author and family manager expert, created a clutter jail for her children. If they left there clutter around the house – she did not nag – she did not chastise – she did not punish. She simply picked it up and put it in jail. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. When her child discovered the item was missing he received a notice of bail to release the jailed clutter. Let your…

Redirecting

Tell me you don't just love a freshly laminated paper product. The smoothness. The ability to preserve your hard work in shiny plastic. I get a thrill just watching it roll off the press! Which brings me to the fact that I did a lot of laminating today, and will therefore have a lot of cutting to do tonight. So, in addition to dust, my house will now be blanketed with pesky laminate scraps that stick to everything through the magic of static electricity. I'll be finding them until Christmas…

Bravo Board

I started doing this last year and it has worked wonders. I got the idea from a friend, but she got the original idea from the fabulous blog- The First Grade Parade. It's called a Bravo Board. I like to use a dry erase board for simplicity. It happened to be a magnetic dry erase board, so it made attaching the colors and title super easy! All my desks are arranged in groups of 4-5 per group. Each group of students gets a colored bin containing supplies. Whichever color they are designated is…
