I believe this is true sometimes but it may not have anything to do with respect. Some people lie b/c of past abuse, irrational fears, educational level, to avoid appearing rude (your baby is ugly..your butt is too big, I cheated on you b/c you weren't there but you're still better than her, etc. and never occurred they were being disrespectful. Many reasons people lie.
