Trooper Bert Main and Songster - the oldest horse to serve in WWI, seen here in 1915. Songster was issued to the Leicestershire Yeomanry at the start of WWI when the regiment was sent to France. When Main returned home at the war's end, Songster was kept working in France, he was eventually sent home to England for "disposal" in 1919.
