This is a lovely hand painted hex sign and signed by the artist with their name, Billie. As the story goes the hex sign was created and painted by the Pennsylvania Dutch to ward off bad luck, or to garner good fortunes. It is indeed rare to find an original hand painted hex sign from the mid 1900s. This sign does have wear and still maintains a wonderful patina as shown in the photographs.
