This beautiful kilim is from Armenia and belongs to the 1940s. The artisan used flat weave technique when she weaved this rug. It is handmade and one of a kind. The person weaved this rug for her dowry. According to Turkish tradition, young ladies used to weave kilim rugs to give to their husbands as wedding gifts. Natural hand-spun wool was used for this rug. Although the rug was weaved in the 1950s, the lady used 19th century's patterns. The patterns fit well in our modern houses this century. Even though the rug is an old piece, it is in very good condition. The rug got washed and cleaned professionally. All restoration was completed and ready for use.
