Redirecting

I just love Sundays that are attached to a 3-day weekend. We have had a great weekend and we still have one day to go. One of the great things about living in northern California is the weather. It always seems that January is beautiful here, sure we get rain but we often get sunny and mid 60's. That kind of weather is great when it fall onto a 3-day weekend. We were able to get a hike in, ride bikes and play at the park. Lots of fun! I also finished my monthly writing center word lists…

Why Read 20 Minutes? Pinterest-Inspired Visual!

I saw a great visual on Pinterest regarding reading for 20 minutes each night. It came from the Perry & Lecompton Unified School District (click HERE to see the original.) I added my own flair to the visual because I plan on adding it to the beginning of the students' planners next year. We all know that it's the fastest way to become a good reader, but there are always those kids (and parents!) who ignore the science and skip reading at night. I think I'll put this on the very first page of…

Popcorn Pinspiration and Freebie!

Today I am sharing a center that I have adapted from a recent pin I saw. Here is the pin from Mrs. Jones's Kindergarten. She uses this to reinforce reading and writing of popcorn words (sight words.) At this point in the year, most of my Kinders are working on letter recognition, so I changed out the sight words for the alphabet. **This center is so easy - no lamination needed! I hardly ever say that!** I printed the uppercase letters on yellow construction paper and the lowercase letters on…
