Irish Pride
County Cork
The Irish tricolor was gifted from the French to the Irish in 1848. The flag represents traditional Gaelic Ireland (green), followers of William of Orange (orange) & the hope for peace between to the two groups (white), a peace which has yet to become a reality for many. The flag has been considered the national flag of Ireland since the 1916 Easter Rising, but wasn't made official until 1919.

Old Things
During the early years of the nineteenth century sections of Ireland were overrun by one of the many terrorist gangs that have from time to time existed there, known, from their peculiar but effective grass masks, as the Straw Boys. Through these masks they could see without being recognized, and their habit of dressing as women added to their grotesque appearance

Westerns
Trevelyan - a British civil servant and colonial administrator. is best remembered for the quasi-genocidal anti-Irish racial sentiment [sic] he expressed during his term in the critical position of administrating relief for the millions of Irish peasants suffering under the Irish famine ... In a letter... he described the famine as an "effective mechanism for reducing surplus population" as well as "the judgement of God".[3][4][5] '' - Wikipedia
