We made a friendship flower bouquet to celebrate MLK jr. Day. We spent the week learning about diversity, equality, peace, and what it means to be a good friend. The children traced their hands and then perforated the tracings using push pins (we call it pin-pricking). Then they told us how to be a good friend and we wrote it down with their name on their handprint flowers. They had such a good time!
Our Kindergarten Friendship Feast - Roots and Wings
The focus of our Friendship Feast is on unity and friendship during November and the Thanksgiving season. Find ideas and activities including making a friendship fruit salad, making a printable book, learning about circles as symbols of unity and creating a classroom unity wreath. Great for preschool, kindergarten, or first grade! #Thanksgiving #November #Friendship #kindergarten #socialstudies
DIY friendship books
I may try a variation of this in my new kinder room this year if there is time. I was thinking of taking tons of pictures with my iphone throughout the first week or so. Then print off lots of them and let the kids pick through and make their own books. It could help them learn each others names a little faster, too.
