The Monsoon affects almost half the people on our planet. For months, there is no rain. Then, too much rain. Day after day, wallowing in filthy water to my chest, I began to learn patience. For most Westerners, weather is incidental. Sheltered in air-conditioned apartments, we dash from house to car in rubber boots. It rains, but there is always escape from it. Half the world's people survive at the whim of the monsoon winds. This is the reality and it will stay with me forever. Steve McCurry

Weathering the Elements

"Life is the fire that burns and the sun that gives light. Life is the wind and the rain and the thunder in the sky. Life is matter and is earth, what is and what is not, and what beyond is in Eternity."- Lucius Annaeus Seneca
